Couple Apprehended For Selling Hard Drugs In Imo

The Imo State Police Command on Friday arrested a couple, Collins Iwunze, 51, and his wife, Onyinyechi Iwunze, 43, for allegedly dealing in hard drugs in Umunjoku Obiokwu Amakohia-Ubi, Owerri West Local Government Area.

DSP Henry Okoye, the Command’s spokesperson, said the arrest followed a surveillance operation based on credible intelligence.

“Operatives of the Imo State Police Command’s Surveillance Unit, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects involved in the sale of prohibited hard drugs.

The operation was carried out on 27th March 2026 at about 0630hrs at Umunjoku Obiokwu Amakohia-Ubi in Owerri West LGA.

The suspects, Collins Iwunze (51) and his wife, Onyinyechi Iwunze (43), were apprehended at their residence, where they allegedly dealt in hard drugs in commercial quantities.

A bag containing assorted illicit substances was recovered during the operation.

The suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to facilitate their prosecution,” he said.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, commended the operatives for the arrest and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes.
