The Federal High Court in Abuja has upheld the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)’s right to use its digitally designed two-finger victory symbol as its official party logo.
Justice J.O. Abdulmalik ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to approve the modified design, including its symbol and colours, for the NDC’s official activities and participation in elections.
The judge also issued a perpetual injunction restraining INEC from stopping or interfering with the party’s use of the symbol.
The NDC said the dispute followed its decision to modify its logo at its first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on March 25, 2026.
It subsequently submitted the new design to INEC, which initially uploaded it before reverting to the association logo used when the party was registered.

According to the party, attempts to resolve the matter administratively failed, prompting the court action.
The approved design features a blue background, a two-finger victory sign and the letters “NDC” in red.
In a statement dated September 10, 2026, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, welcomed the judgment and said the party would now enforce the use of the approved logo across its activities.
The party directed all candidates and members to replace the former design on campaign banners, posters and other publicity materials.
It acknowledged that some materials bearing the old logo may already have been produced and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
The NDC said it would step up sensitization on the approved symbol as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
