The Oyo State High Court has ruled that the 2025 convention of the Peoples Democratic Party that elected Dr Kabiru Turaki as national chairman was valid and conducted in accordance with the law.
Justice Ladiran Akintola delivered the judgment on Friday, February 27, in Ibadan, granting all 13 reliefs sought by the claimant in Suit No. I/1336/2025.
The case was brought by Folahan Malomo Adelabi and argued by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Musibau Adetunmbi.
In its ruling, the court found that the convention met the requirements of the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 as amended, and other applicable electoral laws.

Attempts to halt the proceedings were unsuccessful. Motions for a stay of proceedings and suspension of the ruling, filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Sunday Ibrahim on behalf of Austin Nwachukwu and two others, were dismissed by the court.
An earlier application by the same parties to be joined in the suit had also been thrown out for lacking merit.
The ruling provides legal backing for the Turaki-led leadership of the PDP at a time when the party is battling multiple internal crises.
