Cristiano Ronaldo has signed the most lucrative contract in the history of professional sports, extending his stay at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in a deal worth an eye-watering £492 million over two years.
The new contract, confirmed by both Ronaldo and the club on Thursday, includes a base salary of £488,000 per day, pushing his total potential earnings to over £500 million, thanks to bonuses and ambassadorial roles tied to the agreement.
According to reports, the Portuguese icon will also serve as a “dream ambassador” for the Gulf State, a role expected to further boost his income. In addition to his salary, Ronaldo has secured a £24.5 million signing bonus, which could increase to £38 million if he fulfills the second year of the contract.
Notably, the deal grants him a 15% ownership stake in Al-Nassr, estimated at £33 million. Performance bonuses — including incentives for winning the Saudi Pro League and claiming the golden boot — could further elevate his total earnings beyond half a billion pounds.

In total, Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 matches for Al-Nassr, closing in on his lifelong goal of 1,000 senior career goals, with his tally currently standing at 938.
Beyond the pitch, Ronaldo and his family will enjoy luxury perks, including 16 full-time staff members — such as chefs, housekeepers, drivers, gardeners, and security personnel — whose services will be covered by the club at a cost of £1.4 million.
Announcing the extension on X, Ronaldo wrote:
”A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.”
