A large crowd of supporters on Thursday, the 29th of January, 2026, converged on the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi to receive the State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu, following his return from Abuja.
The commissioner arrived in Bauchi shortly after securing bail from the Federal High Court in Abuja in connection with an alleged terrorism financing case currently pending before the court.
Reports indicate that the supporters, who came from various parts of the state, welcomed Adamu with songs, chants, and prayers, expressing strong belief in his innocence as the legal proceedings continue.
Some of the supporters who spoke to journalists at the airport, described the court’s decision to grant bail as encouraging, calling on the public to stay calm and allow the judicial process to take its full course.
Later, while addressing the crowd at his family residence in Bauchi, Adamu thanked residents of the state and well-wishers for their prayers and overwhelming show of support.
He appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and respectful of constituted authority while the case is being heard.
The commissioner also urged residents to continue backing the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed, restating the state government’s resolve to fast-track development projects across Bauchi State.
Reports further indicate that the matter remains before the Federal High Court and that Adamu is expected to strictly comply with the bail conditions set by the court.
Recall that Dr Yakubu Adamu was earlier arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations related to terrorism financing.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism financing and money laundering against Adamu and three other individuals identified as senior civil servants in Bauchi State.

The allegations, which are yet to be determined by the court, attracted widespread public attention both within and beyond the state, given Adamu’s role in the Bauchi State Government.
At the time of arraignment, the court granted bail to the commissioner after listening to arguments from both the prosecution and defence.
Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had last Wednesday admitted Adamu to bail in the sum of N100 million.
The court also granted bail in the same amount to Balarabe Abdullahi Ilelah, Aminu Mohammed Bose and Kabiru Yahaya Mohammed, who are standing trial alongside Adamu over alleged terrorism financing amounting to $9.7 million.
