Onanuga Accuses Peter Obi Of Inconsistency, Political Desperation

Presidential aide and media strategist Bayo Onanuga has launched a fresh criticism of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of political inconsistency and desperation in his continued pursuit of the presidency.

Onanuga made the remarks in a post shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account in the early hours of Friday, where he alleged that Obi had repeatedly abandoned his stated principles and political positions whenever they no longer aligned with his ambitions.

According to Onanuga, Obi has demonstrated a willingness to reverse his positions, sever ties with political platforms when they cease to be advantageous, and associate with individuals he had previously criticised. He described this pattern as evidence of what he called “politics of desperation.”

“He is willing to make U-turns on any matter—even on his political ideology, if he has one,” Onanuga wrote, questioning Obi’s reliability and consistency as a political leader. He further alleged that Obi frequently shifts his positions in response to public sentiment and trends on social media.

Onanuga also claimed that a recently circulated video clip showed Obi distancing himself from his supporters, a move he said further highlighted contradictions in the former Anambra State governor’s political conduct.

The comments add to ongoing political exchanges between supporters and critics of Obi, who emerged as a major opposition figure during the 2023 presidential election and continues to command significant attention in Nigeria’s political space.

Peter Obi has not publicly responded to Onanuga’s remarks as of the time of filing this report.
