The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a drug trafficker previously convicted and imprisoned in Asia for similar narcotics offences. The suspect, described by the agency as a recidivist, was arrested in Nigeria while attempting to smuggle crystal methamphetamine concealed within loudspeakers.
The arrest was disclosed by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement released via the agency’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
An accompanying video visually documented the sophisticated concealment method, showing the illicit drugs carefully hidden inside the audio equipment.
In its social media post, the NDLEA highlighted the suspect’s history as a repeat offender.

“Narco-trend update: From being convicted and jailed in Asia for drug offences to being a trans-border trafficker back home. This is the story of the brain behind the concealment in this video as uncovered by #ndlea_nigeria officers. What a recidivist!” the agency wrote.
The statement underscores the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat international drug trafficking syndicates operating within Nigeria.
The agency continues its crackdown, particularly focusing on traffickers employing unconventional methods and elaborate concealment techniques to move narcotics across borders.
