Customs board dismisses ACG for misconduct, promotes 2,634 others

Nigeria Customs Service Board has dismissed an Assistant Comptroller-General l, Aminu Dahiru, over serious misconduct, and also retired ACG Bashir Abubakar for negligence.

NCS announced this during its 52nd regular meeting.

It, however, approved the appointment of five Assistant Comptroller Generals of Customs and promoted 2,634 officers.

A statement on Thursday by the NCS spokesman, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, outlined the breakdown of duties and offices for the new comptrollers-general. 

“The new Assistant Comptrollers-General are: ACG Mohammed Boyi in charge of Training and Coordination; ACG Adewale Adeniyi, Commandant Customs Staff and Training College, Gwagwalada; ACG Jack Ajoku in charge of Strategic Research and Policy; ACG Olakunle Oyeleke in charge of Doctrine, Development and Administration; and ACG Emmanuel Edorhe, Zonal Coordinator, Zone C.

“The breakdown of the 2,634 officers, whose promotion has 1st January 2019 as effective date, are 37 Deputy Comptrollers to Comptrollers of Customs; 110 Assistant Comptrollers of Customs to Deputy Comptrollers; 138 Chief Superintendent of Customs to Assistant Comptrollers; 93 Superintendent of Customs to Chief Superintendent of Customs.

“Others are 93 Deputy Superintendent of Customs to Superintendent of Customs; 1,224  Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 to Deputy Superintendent of Customs; 475 Assistant Superintendent of Customs 11 to Assistant Superintendent of Customs;  464 Inspector of Customs to Assistant Superintendent of Customs 11.” 

He added that 205 of the 2,634 are support staff, who also enjoyed promotion to various ranks, noting that with the reforms agenda the Board took some disciplinary actions against some erring officers.
