Diri approves temporary accommodation for Zone 16 AIG

Odahiekwu Ogunde, Yenagoa

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has promised a total support and cooperation for a smooth take-off of the Zone 16 with headquarters in Yenagoa.

The governor has, therefore, approved a temporary office accommodation for the zone as well as an official quarters for Mr Austin Agbonlahor, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone comprising Bayelsa and Rivers states.

On logistics, the governor mandated the Special Advisers on Security Matters and his team to take up the task.

Diri gave the approval yesterday when the AIG had a meeting with him to intimate him of his official resumption of duty in the zonal headquarters.

Recall that AIG Agbonlahor, who resumed duty about 10 days ago, had no zonal office.

The AIG and his team had been putting up at the Bayelsa State Police Command headquarters, Yenagoa, a development that had overstretched the command’s inadequate accommodation.

Diri, who welcomed Agbonlahor to Bayelsa, also appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and other stakeholders for approving Bayelsa State as headquarters for Zone 16, Yenagoa.

In his remarks, Agbonlahor said his brief visit was to intimate the governor officially of his assumption of duty.

He thanked the governor for the warm reception accorded him on arrival in the state.

The AIG also used the opportunity to solicit support from the government and the good people of Bayelsa State for a smooth take-off of the zone.
