Customs Warns Applicants Against Fake Recruitment Screening Notice

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed reports circulating online that claim to provide dates and venues for the screening of candidates who successfully completed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) in the ongoing recruitment exercise.

In a statement shared on its verified X account on Wednesday, the agency said the documents being circulated were fraudulent and were not issued by the Service.

“FAKE NEWS ALERT. The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn to a fake content currently circulating on social media.

“The NCS wishes to state clearly that these claims are false and did not originate from the Service,” the alert read.

According to the NCS, the documents falsely announced screening schedules for early June 2026 and outlined venues across different zones of the country.

The notices also included alleged requirements for the exercise, such as identification documents and prescribed dress codes.

The Service, however, urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the information and obtain updates only through its official communication platforms.

The clarification comes as interest in the 2024/2025 recruitment process remains high, with many applicants expressing concerns over delays following several stages of the exercise, including applications, CBT examinations, and profile update procedures.

In May 2026, the NCS activated a portal for shortlisted candidates to complete final screening updates ahead of interviews and physical screening. The portal closed on May 10.

The agency has repeatedly emphasized that the recruitment process is entirely free and warned candidates against making payments to individuals or groups claiming to facilitate any stage of the exercise.

The NCS has also continued to caution applicants about fraudsters and misleading announcements targeting thousands of hopeful candidates seeking information about the recruitment process.
