Dangote Introduces Whistleblower Scheme, Offers N500,000 Reward To Combat Illegal Truck Operations

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has launched a whistleblower initiative aimed at tackling the illegal use of its branded trucks, offering a N500,000 cash reward to members of the public who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders.

The company said the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to curb unauthorised haulage activities and safeguard the integrity of its nationwide logistics operations.

In a statement issued on Sunday, DIL called on Nigerians to report any suspected misuse of its trucks, particularly cases where the vehicles are used to transport unauthorised goods or passengers.

The conglomerate stressed that trucks belonging to its various subsidiaries are approved to transport only designated company products.

According to the statement, Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to convey only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to transporting sugar products.

It added that vehicles belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are designated exclusively for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products.

Similarly, Dangote Packaging trucks are approved to carry bags and packaging materials, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are designated for polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are authorised to transport urea fertiliser.

The company warned that any Dangote truck found transporting unauthorised goods would be regarded as engaging in illegal haulage.

It stated that drivers and owners of such goods risk arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution by relevant authorities.

“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorized goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the statement said.

To facilitate investigations, the company urged whistleblowers to provide detailed information, including the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods being transported, the colour of the vehicle and photographs where available.

Dangote Industries disclosed that dedicated hotlines have been established across its operations to receive reports of illegal haulage activities.

The company also revealed that law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been authorised to arrest drivers found using Dangote-branded trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against logistics-related fraud, DIL said the whistleblower programme is designed to strengthen transparency, accountability and regulatory compliance throughout its logistics network.

“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities,” the company said.

“We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system.”

The company added that the initiative is expected to protect its assets, promote lawful business practices and ensure that individuals involved in illegal haulage activities are brought to justice.
