Dangote Refinery Increases Petrol Price To ₦1,350 Per Litre

Dangote Refinery has again raised the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit, pushing it up to ₦1,350 per litre in its latest adjustment.

Data from Petroleumprice.ng on Wednesday, May 6, showed that the new rate reflects a ₦75 increase from the previous ₦1,275 per litre.

The development comes barely days after an earlier price revision that moved the product from ₦1,200 to ₦1,275 per litre, signalling a fast-paced pattern of changes in the downstream petroleum market.

Within one week, the refinery has now implemented two separate ₦75 increases, highlighting the speed at which pricing is being recalibrated.

Market watchers link the adjustments to a combination of factors, including fluctuations in crude oil costs, pressure on foreign exchange, and distribution challenges within the domestic supply chain.

The latest increase also follows a temporary pause in the issuance of pro forma invoices earlier in the week, a move that industry players say tightened supply and contributed to rising prices across the value chain.

Over the past month, petrol pricing from the Dangote refinery has seen multiple revisions, reflecting its expanding dominance in Nigeria’s local fuel supply and its influence on market direction.

Analysts say the frequent changes underline a pricing approach that responds quickly to prevailing economic conditions, even as consumers continue to feel the impact of sustained increases in fuel costs.
