Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially become a member of the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards.
With the new role, Davido will now participate in the voting process that determines the outcomes of music’s most prestigious honors. Describing the development as “a gamechanger,” the singer emphasized the significance of being part of the Academy’s decision-making body.
“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” he said in a video message, adding that he feels honored to join the Academy and is eager to contribute.

Davido first secured three Grammy nominations in 2024 but did not clinch a win. His fourth nomination came this year through Sensational, his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, which competed for Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammys but lost to Tems’ Love Me Jeje.
The achievement marks another milestone in Davido’s career and underscores Afrobeats’ growing global recognition.
