Dele Momodu, a prominent figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently shared his perspective on the 2027 political landscape during an interactive X Space session titled “Avrilsspace: The Electoral Mathematics for 2027,” on Monday the 22nd of December, 2025.
Momodu suggested that despite previous setbacks, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains a formidable contender for the nation’s highest office, drawing a parallel to the persistence of the 16th U.S. President.
Atiku’s journey toward the presidency is one of the longest in Nigerian history, beginning in 1993 when he conceded to MKO Abiola at the SDP primary in Jos. Most recently, he finished behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 polls. As 2027 approaches, Momodu believes Atiku’s endurance may finally be rewarded if the circumstances align.
Reflecting on Atiku’s character and political viability, Momodu stated:“There is no conflict of interest anywhere, Atiku has been running since 1993 and if God favours him, he may likely become the Abraham Lincoln of Nigeria, I leave that to God.
“Like I said, I’m never a desperate supporter of any candidate, I’m a realist but I believe that he stands the best chance today. He’s in good health, his business is thriving, and his family is adorable.
