A significant shift in the political landscape of Katsina State has emerged as substantial numbers of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members officially transferred their allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The wave of defections, which reportedly impacts the party’s organization from the grassroots to the state executive level, was highlighted by PDP chieftain Austin Okai, in a social media update shared on Monday, the 22nd of December, 2025, noted that the movement represents a wholesale transition of local party frameworks into a new political alliance.
“Katsina PDP collapsed structures from polling units, ward, LGA and State to ADC Coalition.”
This development comes amid a broader trend of political migration toward the ADC as the 2027 general elections begin to loom on the horizon. Observers note that the party is increasingly being positioned as a primary alternative for those dissatisfied with the traditional heavyweights.

The trend is not isolated to Katsina. Recently, the political equilibrium in Kebbi State was similarly shaken when an estimated one hundred thousand members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Lega Local Government Area resigned from the ruling party to join the ADC.
The ADC is gaining significant ground across the North-West, drawing supporters from both the PDP in Katsina and the APC in Kebbi.
