The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed the death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed at the Government House in Yenagoa on Thursday afternoon.

“The National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and indeed the entire membership of our great party, especially our faithful members in Bayelsa State, are in profound grief,” the statement read.

The party described Senator Ewhrudjakpo as “a trusted, faithful party man” and praised him as a politician guided by principle and conviction.

He was a person of conviction, not convenience; a leader whose life was anchored on belief, integrity, and strength of character. He held firmly to these virtues until his final moments.”

Ememobong said the PDP was “deeply saddened by the passing of this hero of political integrity,” and prayed that “God grants his soul eternal rest.”

The party extended its condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State, describing his death as “a painful and irreparable loss.”

Ewhrudjakpo, born on September 5, 1965, served as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State from 2020 until his death in 2025.

Before his tenure as deputy governor, he represented the Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly from 2019 to 2020.

His passing marks a major loss to Bayelsa and the PDP, where he was revered for his integrity, humility, and principled approach to leadership.
