Delta State is reeling from the sudden death of Chief Love Shimite, a prominent aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Special Adviser on Trade and Export, who passed away in the early hours of Easter Monday.
Sources close to the family described the incident as the result of a “brief illness,” but details remain murky.
Police have since confirmed her death, with the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, stating that Shimite was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
In a development that has stirred public curiosity, Edafe disclosed that Shimite’s husband has been taken into protective custody, not as a suspect, but for his own safety.
“He was the one who reported the death to us,” Edafe explained. “He said he had begun receiving threats from her family, and feared he might be harmed. Based on that, we moved him into protective custody.”

The situation took a new turn, however, when the deceased’s family officially petitioned the police, expressing suspicion that the husband may have had a hand in her sudden passing.
The police spokesperson assured that investigations are ongoing, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
“No conclusions yet,” Edafe noted. “We’ll let the facts guide us.”
As the investigation unfolds, questions continue to swirl, with the public waiting for clarity in a case that has left many stunned.
