The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has revealed that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) across the country generated a total of N564.71 billion in revenue during the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.
According to NERC’s second-quarter report, the figure marks a 2 percent increase from the N553.63 billion collected in the first quarter (Q1) of the year.
The commission noted that the amount was realised from a total billing of N742.34 billion, slightly lower than the N744.26 billion billed in Q1 — representing a 0.26 percent decline in overall billing.
NERC said the revenue performance translated to a collection efficiency of 76.07 percent, an improvement from 74.39 percent recorded in the previous quarter.
“This means that at an aggregate level, DisCos recorded a 1.68 percentage point increase in collection efficiency between Q1 and Q2 2025,” the report stated.
Among the distribution companies, Eko DisCo led the pack with the highest collection efficiency of 87.8 percent, while Jos DisCo had the lowest at 43.82 percent.

The report further highlighted that Port Harcourt (+9.79pp), Benin (+5.04pp), Ikeja (+4.89pp), Ibadan (+4.20pp), Eko (+3.01pp) and Yola (+0.88pp) recorded notable improvements in collection efficiency compared to the previous quarter.
However, NERC said five DisCos witnessed declines in efficiency, with Abuja (-3.93pp) and Jos (-3.37pp) posting the most significant drops between the two quarters.
The regulator said it would continue to monitor DisCos’ performance to ensure accountability and improved service delivery across the power distribution value chain.
