The Walt Disney Company has partnered with TikTok in a landmark deal that will allow creators to use approved Disney characters and story elements in short-form videos, with selected fan-made content to be featured on Disney+.
Announced on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the partnership marks Disney’s latest move to blend its iconic entertainment franchises with the creator economy, giving fans a bigger role in shaping how its stories are shared and discovered online.
Under the agreement, creators will have access to content from major Disney brands, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and FX, while curated videos will appear across TikTok and Disney+ through the platform’s vertical video experience.
Disney said the initiative is part of its broader strategy to use technology to improve storytelling, deepen audience engagement and create new monetization opportunities.

The deal follows Disney’s introduction of Verts, a TikTok-style vertical video feature launched on Disney+ earlier in 2026 to help users discover films and shows through short clips before moving to full-length content.
The partnership reflects a wider shift in the entertainment industry, as streaming companies increasingly adopt social media-style features to attract younger audiences and compete for digital attention.
The announcement came alongside Disney’s quarterly earnings report for the period ended June 27, 2026. Disney posted $25.2 billion in revenue, a seven per cent rise year-on-year, but net income fell to $2.8 billion from $5.9 billion a year earlier, partly due to higher tax expenses.
With the TikTok collaboration, Disney is seeking to extend the reach of its century-old storytelling empire by combining its global franchises with the influence and creativity of online communities.
