Drake Loses $1.5m World Cup Bet As Spain Sink Argentina

Canadian rapper Drake has lost a $1.5 million USDT cryptocurrency wager after Argentina fell to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

Drake had backed Argentina to win the July 19 final, placing the high-value bet through crypto betting platform Stake. A victory for Argentina would have earned him a multimillion-dollar payout.

Spain, however, ended Argentina’s title defence with a 1-0 extra-time victory, leaving the rapper’s prediction unsuccessful and his wager lost.

The defeat has revived talk around the so-called “Drake curse”, a popular internet superstition linking the rapper’s public support for teams and athletes with subsequent losses. The claim remains unproven.

Known for his high-profile sports wagers, Drake has repeatedly drawn global attention for placing large bets on major sporting events, with his latest World Cup gamble becoming another widely discussed setback.
