Nigeria’s D’Tigers suffered a disappointing start to their FIBA World Cup qualifying campaign after losing 78-62 to Cameroon in their opening Group E encounter in Radès on Thursday.
Cameroon took control of the contest and maintained the advantage through the game, leaving Nigeria with work to do in their bid to secure qualification.
Nigeria’s Caleb Agada led the team’s scoring with 13 points, while Josh Okogie delivered an all-round performance, contributing six assists and 10 rebounds.

Despite the defeat, D’Tigers remain in contention and will have an immediate opportunity to respond when they face South Sudan in their next Group E fixture on Friday.
The Nigerian team will be hoping for a stronger performance against South Sudan as they seek to get their qualifying campaign back on track.
The defeat leaves Nigeria needing to regroup quickly, with qualification still within their reach.
