The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Thursday elected Mrs. Lucy Nwodom as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Ebonyi State during the party’s primary in Abakaliki.
The party also produced Chief Chikodiri Ojemba as its candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, setting up a likely contest with the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi of the APC, who recently secured his party’s ticket for the zone.
Announcing the outcome, the Ebonyi State Chairman of APGA said both candidates emerged unopposed through consensus.
He described the exercise as peaceful and transparent, reaffirming the party’s commitment to credible internal democracy ahead of the 2027 polls.
Nwodom thanked party members for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to run an inclusive, development-driven campaign focused on improving the welfare of Ebonyi people.

Ojemba, in his acceptance speech, urged supporters to avoid campaigns of calumny and politics of bitterness.
He said consultations across Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Izzi and Ohaukwu local government areas informed his decision to contest.
Ojemba pledged to prioritise youth empowerment, job creation, agriculture, education, infrastructure and support for small businesses if elected.
“I present myself to you today not as a competitor, but as a credible alternative,” he said.
He assured supporters that his campaign would remain peaceful, issue-based and development-focused ahead of the 2027 election.
