Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general election.
El-Rufai completed his registration on Thursday, November 27, at his ward in Ungwan Sariki, Kaduna North Local Government Area.
After receiving his membership card, he told supporters that ADC represents a credible platform for Nigerians seeking change.
He said the party will give voters the opportunity to replace the ruling All Progressives Congress, which he accused of poor performance.
He urged young Nigerians to take up the same step, encouraging those aged 18 and above to secure their ADC membership cards so they can “vote for a candidate of their choice” in the next general election.

El-Rufai has played a key role in the opposition coalition that, in July, adopted the ADC as its chosen platform to challenge the APC in 2027.
The coalition recently named former Senate President David Mark as interim national chairman after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.
A former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was appointed interim national secretary.
El-Rufai’s formal entry into the party comes shortly after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also joined the coalition.
In a brief post on Monday, Atiku announced, “It’s official,” alongside photographs of him holding his ADC membership card.
Last week, El-Rufai was present when the ADC commissioned its national secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja, which David Mark led other party leaders to unveil the new office as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
