Elder Statesman, Mighty Jets Founder Isyaku Ibrahim Dies at 88, Tinubu Mourns

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman, businessman, and politician, Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, who passed away on Saturday in Abuja at the age of 88.

In a condolence statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanugaon Sunday via his X, the President extended sympathies to the family of the late politician, as well as his associates and the people of Nasarawa State, where he hailed from.

Alhaji Ibrahim was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political and business circles for decades. A chieftain of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) during the Second Republic, he played a key role in the country’s political transition in 1998, joining other notable leaders to form the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Beyond politics, Ibrahim made significant contributions to sports development in Nigeria. He founded the Jos-based Mighty Jets Football Club, which became a household name and nurtured several generations of football talent.
