Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed reservations over the Senate’s endorsement of a hybrid system for transmitting election results, insisting the approach is flawed.
Speaking on Tuesday, the 10th of February, 2026, after a private meeting with former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, in Niger State, Atiku made it clear that he was opposed to combining electronic and manual processes.
According to him, adopting such a framework could complicate the electoral process rather than strengthen it, warning that it may undermine clarity and public confidence.
He said: “I don’t support the mixture of electronic and manual transmission of election results passed by the Senate.

“It’s going to cause more confusion, and I think there’s a need for all the opposition parties to come together to pursue this issue.”
In a related development, the former Vice President also rejected arguments in favour of zoning ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary, maintaining that such considerations should not determine the party’s choice of candidate.
