In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk, the head of the US Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), has stepped in to unravel a high-profile digital blunder.
His team of technical experts is set to investigate how Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, mysteriously found himself in an exclusive Signal group chat meant for senior US administration officials.
The revelation came on the 26th of March, 2025, from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt during a briefing at the White House.
“Elon Musk has offered to put his technical experts on this to determine how this number was inadvertently added to the chat,” Leavitt stated, emphasizing that the move aims to “take responsibility and to ensure that this could never happen again.”

The bizarre mix-up traces back to an earlier conversation led by US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, who had convened a text discussion with top officials about strikes on Houthi militants in Yemen.
In a twist of fate or perhaps a simple case of digital misadventure, Waltz accidentally included Goldberg in the Signal group, granting the journalist an unexpected front-row seat to a sensitive government dialogue.
