The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old driver, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, for allegedly murdering his former employer, Mr. Kola Adun, and attempting to sell the victim’s stolen vehicle.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos, while trying to sell a Toyota Camry belonging to the deceased.
The incident came to light on July 7, 2025, after residents of River Valley Estate, Ojodu Berger, alerted the police to a disturbing odour emanating from Adun’s apartment. Officers from the Ojodu Abiodun Division responded swiftly and forced entry into the premises on Ogunmoyero Street, where they discovered Adun’s decomposing body with visible stab wounds.
According to the police, initial suspicion arose when a friend who was scheduled to pick Adun for Sunday service found the gate locked and was unable to reach him by phone. After repeated failed attempts, the concerned friend notified both the family and police authorities.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Oluwadamilare, a former employee, had allegedly broken into the residence on Saturday, fatally attacked Adun, and fled with the Toyota Camry bearing registration number AAA 193 GC.
The breakthrough in the case occurred when the suspect attempted to sell the car to a dealer in Ikorodu, who grew suspicious of the transaction and contacted the police. Oluwadamilare was immediately arrested at the scene.
Adun’s remains have been evacuated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for autopsy. Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
