Gunmen Attack Zamfara Village, Kidnap Five, Injure One Resident

Residents of Maguru village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State were jolted from their sleep in the early hours of Tuesday as suspected bandits launched a violent attack, leaving one person injured and at least five others kidnapped.

The assault, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., saw heavily armed men descend on the quiet rural community, firing gunshots wildly to instill fear and confusion.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter), the attackers operated with ruthless efficiency, abducting multiple villagers before retreating into the night.

Eyewitnesses say the abductors targeted specific homes, dragging out their victims while neighbors watched helplessly.

A 30-year-old resident, Mu’azu Salisu, sustained gunshot injuries during the chaos and is reportedly receiving medical care at a nearby facility.

This attack comes amid growing national concerns over rural insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest, even as political tensions simmer ahead of the 2027 elections.
