Ezekwesili Blasts Critics: ‘No Insult Can Stop Me from Demanding Accountability’

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has reaffirmed her unwavering stance on holding government officials accountable, insisting that no amount of insults will silence her.

In a statement shared on her X handle on Thursday, Ezekwesili addressed the backlash she received during a recent Senate session, where she clashed with Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

“Will I ever stop holding our Governments, Politicians, and Public Officials to standards of Public Accountability? The answer is Impossicant—a blend of ‘Impossible’ and ‘Can’t,’” she wrote.

The former minister noted that the verbal attacks she faced in the Senate mirrored the cyberbullying she has endured from political hirelings since 2014, emphasizing that she remains unfazed.

“They want all of us to be quiet, endorse, and enable their bad governance, selfish behaviors, injustice, and criminality,” she stated.

Ezekwesili also weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over alleged sexual harassment. She called for a fair hearing, warning that attempts to suppress the matter would fail.

“The shenanigans being thrown out to prevent this will fail. No fraudulent recall will prevail over the will of the people who genuinely believe in her representation,” she declared.

Her remarks have reignited debates on accountability, governance, and the treatment of women in Nigerian politics.

The answer is Impossible and Can’t which together form the poetically licensed word:

Impossicant.

No amount of insults can ever make me stop demanding Accountability in our Democracy.

Here’s the thing.

Nigerians only finally got to see a physical version of the barrage of online insults and cyber-bullying that I get daily from hirelings of politicians and governments.

They want all of us to be quiet, endorse and enable their Bad Governance, Selfish Behaviors. Injustice and Criminality.

Those who have been on social media since 2014 and followed activities on my handle would probably be surprised that anyone is shocked at the invectives thrown at me at that Senate Session.

The ally-internet-trolls of Politicians and the 3 administrations of @NigeriaGov that have governed between 2014 to date have actually called me worse things on here and elsewhere.

I hardly dignify insults because they really are like water on the back of a duck.

Eyes on the Ball.

Senator @NatashaAkpoti must be given a fair hearing by the @NGRSenate on her petition against the Senate President @Senator_Akpabio for Sexual Harassment.

All the shenanigans being thrown out to prevent this will fail. Senator Uduaghan has the legitimacy conferred on her by the Good People of Kogi Central.

No fraudulent recall will prevail over the will of the people who genuinely believe in her representation of their interests at the Senate. ✍🏾✍🏾✍🏾”
