Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, says Nigeria’s middle class has disappeared under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
He made the claim during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
Falana criticised Tinubu’s economic direction, stating that the president’s “harsh neoliberal policies” have worsened poverty levels across the country.
He accused the administration of concentrating wealth in the hands of a few, deepening inequality.
“You cannot be addressing income inequality in a country while handing over the nation’s resources to a few people in the name of privatisation,” he said.

Falana added that the consequences of these decisions are visible in daily life.
“Most Nigerians cannot afford three square meals a day. The middle class has been wiped out by the neoliberal policies of the government,” he said.
He urged the presidency to act quickly.
According to him, “it is in the interest of the government to review its policies as soon as possible.”
