The family of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced that he will be buried on June 18, 2026, in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, bringing to a close funeral arrangements scheduled to span several days in Lagos and the South-East.
Ekubo, a popular film and television actor known for his roles in romantic dramas and comedy productions, died earlier this month after a reported battle with Metastatic kidney cancer.
His passing has drawn widespread reactions from across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders describing him as one of Nollywood’s most recognizable contemporary faces.

According to the funeral programme released by the family, a service of songs will hold on June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, from 4pm to 6pm. Guests are expected to attend in white attire.
A wake-keep is scheduled for June 17, 2026, at the Ekubo family residence in Ujari Village, Arochukwu.
The funeral service and interment will take place on June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, after which he will be laid to rest at the family compound. A reception will follow immediately after the burial.
The family expressed gratitude to friends, colleagues, and fans for the outpouring of support since his passing, noting that he lived a life marked by warmth, creativity, and strong connections within and beyond the film industry.
