Fani-Kayode Denies Rejection From German Ambassadorial Posting

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has denied reports that the German government rejected his ambassadorial appointment.

Peoples Gazette had reported on Monday that his posting to a Central European country was turned down over alleged ethnic and religious slurs.

The report said German authorities cited his “erratic behaviour” and “controversial past statements, particularly his divisive ethnocentric, tribalistic, and religious fundamentalist comments in Nigeria,” calling them “destabilising.”

The media outlet also suggested that Fani-Kayode could be reassigned to South Africa as an ambassador.

In response, Fani-Kayode dismissed the report on his official X handle, accusing opposition politicians of spreading falsehoods.

“Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it.

Whether they like it or not, I will serve my country! Keep crying!” he wrote.

President Bola Tinubu had previously approved Fani-Kayode’s posting as ambassador-designate to a Central European country.
