Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has dismissed the coalition of opposition figures rallying around the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the party poses no real threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose made the remark while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, October 15, where he described the ADC and its coalition leaders as having little political relevance.
“Listen to me, ADC — they are our old friends, senior colleagues, junior colleagues. Let me tell you that ADC is going nowhere,” he said.
The former governor was reacting to reports that opposition leaders, including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, had formed a coalition under the ADC to wrestle power from the APC in 2027.

Fayose argued that the alliance lacked the structure, influence, and public support to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s hold on power.
He maintained that, as it stands, no opposition party could defeat the APC in a general election.
“Tell me, who will defeat the APC? The only opposition that still has traction is Obi, no other one,” he said.
Despite reaffirming his friendship with Tinubu, Fayose clarified that his support for the President was not politically motivated.
“Have you seen me taking an appointment from the APC? Asiwaju asked me, ‘Oshoko, what would we give you?’ I said, ‘Nothing, sir,’” he stated.
Fayose, who ruled Ekiti State for two terms, added that he had no interest in returning to public office, saying he would rather focus on private life and service to his community.
