The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has ordered a probe into an allegation that officers demanded N450,000 from content creator Tumma Gabriel over a complaint submitted to the command.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered the investigation after a video circulated online in which Gabriel alleged that personnel at the Criminal Investigation Department demanded the money as “mobilization and petition.”
Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Adeh said the command does not authorize officers to solicit or demand payment before, during or after investigations.

She said the probe would establish the facts and determine whether any officer was involved, adding that anyone found culpable would face disciplinary action under the Police Act and Regulations.
The command urged Gabriel to contact it on 08180382808 and appear at its headquarters with information that could help identify the officer or officers allegedly involved.
The allegation comes amid recent disciplinary action against FCT police personnel over alleged extortion.
In July 2026, four officers were detained over an alleged N53,000 extortion involving ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu at an unauthorized checkpoint in Abuja. The command subsequently commenced disciplinary proceedings against them.
The police said the outcome of the latest probe would determine further action.
