The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has terminated the appointment of a staff member for extorting candidates, warning employees against conduct capable of compromising its operations.
The Board disclosed this in its bulletin issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, as it reaffirmed its commitment to tackling fraudulent practices in the admission and examination system.
JAMB said the action demonstrated that its anti-fraud campaign covered both external offenders and employees who abused their positions or exploited candidates.
The affected staff member was not identified, and the Board did not disclose the amount involved.
It warned employees that misconduct would attract sanctions under established rules, regardless of their rank or position.

The latest case recalls a similar incident in March 2021, when JAMB paraded two employees over allegations of extorting admission seekers.
One of them, Andy Okoro, a Level 12 officer in the Board’s Delta State office, admitted collecting N500,000 from the parents of four candidates and paying N180,000 to another employee, Gambo Ibrahim Abba, over an alleged arrangement to facilitate university admission.
The matter followed a petition by one of the parents and led to an investigation by the Board.
JAMB said it would not shield employees who abused the trust of candidates or members of the public, stressing that its zero-tolerance stance on corruption applied across the organisation.
The Board urged its workforce to uphold professional standards, saying safeguarding the credibility of its admission and examination processes must begin within the organisation.
