FG Boosts Tax Reforms, Inaugurates 50 Tax Appeal Commissioners

The Federal Government has inaugurated 50 newly appointed Tax Appeal Commissioners as part of its efforts to enhance Nigeria’s economic reforms and revenue generation.

Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, emphasized the crucial role of the Tax Appeal Tribunal (TAT) in ensuring fair and efficient adjudication of tax disputes. He noted that reducing tax evasion is key to maintaining trust in the system and funding national development.

Edun also highlighted positive economic indicators, including stabilizing inflation, declining food prices, and increased oil production, which align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for sustainable growth and poverty reduction.

Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, underscored the tribunal’s role in balancing revenue generation with taxpayer rights, urging members to leverage their expertise to uphold fairness.
