FG Launches Impact Challenge To Deepen Results Of 3MTT Digital Skills Programme

The Federal Government has introduced a new initiative, tagged the Impact Challenge, to assess and strengthen outcomes from its flagship Three Million Tech Talent (3MTT) programme as it prepares to expand the digital skills drive nationwide.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, announced the development on Tuesday, describing the challenge as a key step in measuring real-world impact as the programme transitions from pilot to scale-up phase.

According to the minister, over 135,000 Nigerians have been trained across three cohorts since the pilot phase of the 3MTT programme began.

He added that the use of community-led learning resources has widened access to more than 300,000 learners, while the initiative has helped create about 15,000 job and opportunity pathways.

Tijani disclosed that beyond those already trained, more than 1.8 million Nigerians are currently within the 3MTT pipeline as the government works towards its target of equipping three million citizens with in-demand digital and technology skills.

As preparations begin for the next phase, the Impact Challenge is designed to gather feedback directly from programme beneficiaries and partners, providing insight into how acquired skills are translating into employment, entrepreneurship, and other measurable outcomes.

The minister explained that the scale-up phase will focus on strengthening the alumni community, expanding access to opportunities, and ensuring that training leads to tangible economic benefits.

Participants are expected to take part in the 3MTT National Impact Reflection by sharing personal “before and after” stories that highlight how the programme has influenced their professional journeys.
