The Federal Government has introduced a new digital platform aimed at providing Nigerians and businesses with a single point of access to public services, marking another step in its drive to modernise governance and improve service delivery.
The platform, known as the Government Service Portal, was unveiled during a soft launch in Abuja on Tuesday by Galaxy Backbone in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, said the initiative was designed to eliminate the challenges citizens face when navigating multiple government websites and offices to obtain public services.
He described the portal as a unified digital gateway that enables individuals and businesses to access services offered by government institutions from a single platform.
According to Adeyanju, although several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have independently digitised their operations over the years, the lack of integration has created an inconsistent experience for users.
He said the new portal would simplify access to government services, improve visibility, ensure consistency and deliver a more seamless experience for citizens and businesses.
Adeyanju added that the initiative supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by strengthening public service delivery, advancing digital innovation and promoting technology-driven economic growth.
He explained that the platform also forms part of Nigeria’s broader Digital Public Infrastructure framework, complementing existing digital identity, payment and data exchange systems to build a more connected government ecosystem.
The Galaxy Backbone chief noted that the portal was being introduced through a phased rollout, allowing government agencies to integrate their services while feedback from users is collected to improve performance before a nationwide deployment.
He stressed that the project’s success would ultimately be measured by how easily citizens can access government services, the level of trust it inspires, and the transparency and efficiency it delivers.
Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Nadungu Gagare, the Director of E-Government, Johnson Bareyei, described the portal as one of the flagship initiatives under Nigeria’s e-Government Master Plan 2.0.
Bareyei said the platform features a secure single sign-on system that allows users to access multiple government services without repeatedly providing the same personal information to different agencies.
He noted that the initiative demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration among government institutions, adding that it would make public services faster, more efficient and easier to access.
According to him, the portal is also expected to improve transparency, strengthen accountability, enhance the ease of doing business and make government institutions more responsive to citizens’ needs.
The Country Director of KOICA Nigeria, Mr. Eunsub Kim, represented by Senior Deputy Country Director Ki-Hyun Baik, described the launch as the outcome of years of cooperation between Nigeria and South Korea.

He said the portal is the flagship achievement of the “Building a Foundation Towards Digital Governance in Nigeria” project and would provide citizens with a true one-stop platform for accessing government services.
Kim reaffirmed KOICA’s commitment to supporting the project beyond its pilot stage, emphasising that digital governance requires sustained collaboration and continuous improvements.
Also speaking, the Director of International Cooperation at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Sampson Ebimaro, described digital transformation as a critical driver of national development.
He urged stakeholders to maintain strong inter-agency collaboration and continuously evaluate the platform to ensure it meets users’ expectations and achieves its objectives.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Digital Exploration and Technical Services at Galaxy Backbone, Olumbe Akinkugbe, disclosed that user acceptance testing was carried out across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory before the portal’s launch.
According to him, 184 participants took part in the pilot exercise, with more than 80 percent describing the platform as easy to use. He added that 88 percent of users successfully located the government services they needed, while 71 percent rated the platform’s speed as fast or very fast.
Akinkugbe further revealed that 91 percent of participants indicated they would use the portal again, while 99 percent said they would recommend it to others.
He noted that feedback from the pilot phase had already led to improvements in areas such as user registration, image capture and one-time password delivery, adding that additional Ministries, Departments and Agencies would be integrated into the platform in the next phase to expand the range of services available.
