FG Opens Applications For Admission Into Federal Technical Colleges

The Federal Government has opened applications for admission into Federal Technical Colleges nationwide, with the registration process set to begin on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The development was announced by the Federal Ministry of Education following the approval of the initiative by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa.

The programme is aimed at strengthening technical and vocational education and providing young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant skills.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the government described the exercise as part of a broader effort to widen access to quality technical education and enhance youth employability.

According to the statement, registration for the National Common Entrance Examination into Federal Technical Colleges will run until Sunday, May 24, 2026, while the entrance examination is scheduled to hold nationwide on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Prospective candidates are required to complete their applications through the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) online portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng.

The Ministry noted that possession of a valid National Identification Number is mandatory for all applicants and clarified that admission is open to candidates aged between 13 and 20 years.

It also reiterated that technical education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded by the Federal Government upon admission, removing financial barriers for successful candidates.

Parents, guardians and prospective students were advised to adhere strictly to the application guidelines and obtain information only from official channels of the Ministry of Education and recognised examination bodies.

The Ministry stressed that expanding access to free and quality technical education remains central to empowering youths with relevant skills, promoting self-reliance and supporting national economic growth and sustainable development.
