The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on qualified professionals to apply for inclusion in the United Nations Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) Talent Pipeline, a leadership development initiative aimed at strengthening global humanitarian and development coordination.
The invitation was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, who said the programme targets highly skilled individuals for senior leadership roles within the UN system.
According to the statement, the RC/HC Talent Pipeline is structured to identify, groom and prepare candidates for future Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator positions, while also expanding and diversifying the pool of eligible professionals.
“The initiative places strong emphasis on gender balance and fair geographical representation,” Ebienfa noted.
The Ministry explained that selected participants will undergo tailored capacity-building programmes designed to enhance leadership, coordination and humanitarian response skills.
However, it clarified that admission into the Talent Pipeline does not guarantee automatic appointment, as candidates must still apply separately through the UN Resident Coordinator Assessment Centre.
Applications for the current intake will close on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
While UN staff are required to secure formal nominations from their respective governments, the Ministry stated that professionals outside the UN system may apply directly without prior nomination.

The Ministry urged eligible Nigerians and other interested professionals with relevant experience to take advantage of the opportunity.
“We encourage qualified individuals with strong leadership capacity and a commitment to multilateral cooperation, humanitarian action and sustainable development to apply within the stipulated timeframe,” the statement added.
Additional details on eligibility criteria, application procedures and the Talent Pipeline framework are available on the official United Nations website.
