The Federal Government has officially released the results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) across the country’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs).
At a press briefing held Wednesday in Abuja, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, described the occasion as “a moment of fulfilment and progress for basic education in Nigeria.”
The examination, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on June 14, recorded 64,578 registered candidates, of which 61,290 sat, while 3,288 were absent.
Ahmad announced that 13 candidates achieved the highest score of 202 out of 210, while 27 candidates recorded the lowest score of 1.
The minister also raised concerns about examination malpractice, revealing that 52 candidates, 50 from Rivers State and two from Lagos, were found culpable.
“This year, an unprecedented number of 52 candidates were involved in examination malpractice,” she noted.
In addition to the NCEE, results from the entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja, were also released. Out of 3,421 registered candidates, 3,141 sat for the exam, with 280 absent. The highest score recorded was 194, while the lowest remained 1.

Reaffirming the government’s admission policy, Prof. Ahmad stated that placements into the colleges would be based on 60% merit, 30% equality of states, and 10% exigency.
She directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure that all admissions are finalized promptly and strictly in line with the approved criteria.
“Our Federal Unity Colleges have become the first port of call for most parents in the country,” Ahmad said.
“Government remains committed to improving infrastructure, feeding, and teacher quality to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.”
The event also featured the formal handover of the results to the Ministry by NECO Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, who reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to upholding transparency and integrity in public examinations.
The results are now available through official government and NECO portals, as successful candidates prepare for placement into one of Nigeria’s premier Unity Colleges.
