FIFA has announced a major change to its pre-match protocol for the FIFA World Cup, introducing a new ceremony format that will alter the traditional line-up procedure before kick-off.
Under the revised arrangement, teams will no longer stand in two parallel rows during the pre-match formalities, a longstanding feature of international football competitions.
Instead, both teams, including substitutes and coaching staff, will assemble in separate circles within their respective halves of the pitch as part of a redesigned presentation ceremony.

The world football governing body will also introduce a new anthem display sequence. During the playing of the national anthems, two giant national flags representing the competing countries will be spread across each side of the field, creating a more visually striking spectacle for supporters in the stadium and television audiences worldwide.
The move is part of FIFA‘s efforts to enhance the match day experience and deliver a fresh presentation ahead of World Cup fixtures.
The new format is expected to debut at upcoming FIFA World Cup events, marking a significant departure from one of football’s most recognizable pre-match traditions.
