Fire Erupts At Lagos International Airport’s Terminal 1, Passengers Safe

A fire outbreak occurred on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, triggering an immediate emergency response from aviation safety and firefighting teams.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed the incident in an official statement, noting that its firefighting unit rapidly mobilised to contain the blaze.

Authorities reported no casualties, and operations aimed at stabilising the affected area are ongoing.

In its communication, the agency stated:

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the public of a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to contain the situation. No loss of life has been recorded. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
