The Jigawa State government has commenced the 2025 Hajj operations with the successful airlift of 550 intending pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The pilgrims departed on Monday night aboard a Max Air Boeing 747 from the Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi International Airport, Dutse.
Flagging off the inaugural flight, Governor Umar Namadi charged the pilgrims to uphold the values of discipline and dignity throughout their spiritual journey, urging them to represent the state and Nigeria with pride.
“As you embark on this sacred journey, remember to conduct yourselves in a manner that reflects positively on our state and country,” Namadi said. He called on them to offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace and prosperity and assured them of the state’s full support and commitment to their welfare throughout the pilgrimage.
He added, “Your actions should reflect the principles we hold dear. I pray that Allah accepts your sacrifices and brings you back safely.”

The Director General of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ahmed Labbo, confirmed that the first batch of pilgrims were drawn from 24 local government areas across the state. He noted the board’s commitment to inclusivity and appreciated the support of Governor Namadi and security agencies for ensuring a smooth screening and departure process.
Also speaking, the Director of Operations, Sabo Aujara, emphasized the comprehensive preparations made to facilitate a successful pilgrimage. He disclosed that several federal agencies, including the NDLEA, Immigration, and Customs, were involved in sensitizing the pilgrims on rules and travel protocols.
As the first batch begins their Hajj journey, the state government and welfare board reaffirmed their dedication to supporting the remaining pilgrims scheduled for subsequent flights.
