Nollywood Actress Grace-Charis Bassey Graduates from U.S. Navy Boot Camp, Becomes U.S. Citizen

Nollywood actress and television personality Grace-Charis Bassey has achieved a significant personal milestone, officially graduating from the United States Navy’s boot camp and earning the title of U.S. Sailor. The actress, who rose to prominence under the name Belinda Effah, shared her achievement in a heartfelt social media post on Monday.

Bassey also announced that she took the oath of allegiance as a United States citizen, marking a new chapter in her life. The journey, she said, was not without its challenges, but she drew strength from her Nigerian heritage, her Christian faith, and a steadfast vision for her future.

“This journey wasn’t easy — but I carried my roots, my faith, and my vision every step of the way. Nigeria raised me. America challenged me. I stand today stronger and more determined than ever,” she wrote on Instagram.

The actress dedicated her accomplishment to her late father, Naval Commander Asido Bassey Effah, noting that his legacy of service inspired her path.

In addition to completing the rigorous military training, Bassey also remained connected to her creative roots by joining the Navy choir during boot camp. “I am eternally grateful. Proudly a U.S. Sailor,” she concluded in her post, sharing images and videos from the graduation ceremony.
