Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, arrived in Katsina on Tuesday to attend the funeral of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday at the age of 82 in a London hospital.
The First Lady’s presence underscores the high-level representation of the Federal Government at the solemn occasion, which has drawn national and international attention.
She joined other dignitaries, family members, and political associates of the late president in Daura, his hometown, where his remains are to be interred according to Islamic rites.

Senator Tinubu, a former lawmaker and prominent advocate for women and youth empowerment, is expected to pay tribute on behalf of the presidency and offer condolences to the bereaved Buhari family and the Daura Emirate.
Former President Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s head of state from 1983 to 1985 and later as a two-term democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, is being honoured with a state burial following a week-long period of national mourning declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
