Samaila Kamba, former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembl
under the Adamu Aliero administration, has officially announced his intention to run for the Kebbi North senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kamba, who rejoined the ruling party after a stint with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said his Senate ambition is aimed at building on his legislative achievements and supporting Governor Nasir Idris’s human capacity development initiatives.
He noted that the Senate would allow him to reach more constituents and make a meaningful contribution to nation-building.
“I joined the APC at my own time, not at the expense of anybody,” Kamba said.
“I am an adult and a bona fide Nigerian, therefore I can take any decision I deem fit, and immediately I got satisfied with the current happenings in the state, I joined to contribute my quota.”

Kamba added that his return to the APC was motivated by his satisfaction with Governor Idris’s governance in Kebbi State.
Before returning to the APC, Kamba was a prominent PDP figure in Kebbi, commanding significant influence in the party.
The Kebbi North senatorial seat is currently held by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, a three-term legislator and former majority leader in the Senate.
Kamba’s entry sets the stage for a potentially competitive contest in the 2027 general elections.
