Four suspects are on the run after allegedly attacking and killing a tea seller in Yola, Adamawa State.
The victim, identified as Muhammed Auwal Idris, was reportedly attacked at Banga, in the Nassarawo Borehole area of Jimeta, Yola.
The Adamawa State Police Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday night, saying an investigation had commenced into the incident.
According to the command, the victim’s elder brother, Aliyu Idris, reported the attack at the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters on September 28, 2026.
“On 28th September, 2026, one Aliyu Idris, elder brother of the deceased, reported at Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters that his younger brother was attacked by four persons, namely Isa, Japhet, Omo and Henry,” the statement said.

Following the report, police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene, where they found the victim unconscious.
He was rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was subsequently pronounced dead.
The police said the four suspects had fled the scene before the arrival of its operatives and remained at large as of Tuesday night.
The command said the victim’s remains had been deposited at a mortuary for autopsy as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death continued.
Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje said the command had intensified efforts to locate and arrest the suspects.
“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, condemns in strong terms the heinous act and has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation to take over the case and ensure diligent investigation and prosecution,” Nguroje said.
