The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and homegrown innovation, describing science and technology as vital to national development and security.
This was highlighted in a statement released on the Force’s official X handle on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, following the graduation ceremony of the third batch of interns at the Peace House Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence (PRICE) in Gboko, Benue State.
At the event, young innovators showcased projects aimed at addressing societal and security challenges.
Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, the Director of Armament Research, Air Vice Marshal N. S. Okoro, delivered a lecture as Special Guest of Honour.
He emphasized that advancing youth-led innovation is central to building a secure and prosperous nation.
“The Nigerian Air Force believes that when we empower our youth and align science and technology with national security, we create not just solutions for today, but a foundation for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria,” AVM Okoro stated.

Among the projects exhibited was the Urban Electric Mobility Vehicle, a compact electric car designed for daily commuting, which NAF said could also be deployed as a Base Guard Duty Check Vehicle in its formations.
Other innovations included a digital reading application with integrated payment systems and a Neonatal Jaundice Detection Device, underscoring the breadth of ideas being nurtured through PRICE’s mentorship programme.
The event was also attended by eminent traditional rulers, including the Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, and the Ochi Idoma, Dr. Elaigwu Odogbo, reflecting NAF’s effort to strengthen civil-military relations and promote an all-of-society approach to peace and unity.
Through PRICE, the CAS continues to position the Nigerian Air Force not only as a guarantor of national sovereignty but also as a partner in Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation by supporting research-driven solutions from young innovators.
