Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State will deliver a statewide broadcast today, September 19, at 6 pm, his first official address since returning to office.
The governor announced the broadcast on Friday shortly after arriving at the Government House in Port Harcourt. He was received by a massive crowd of supporters at the airport.
“We are going to address the state officially by 6 pm, and in that broadcast, every authority that gave support to this normally will be properly recognised.”
Fubara resumed duties this week following the lifting of the six-month emergency rule President Bola Tinubu imposed on the state in March.

His return coincides with the Rivers House of Assembly reconvening to demand commissioner nominees and the 2025 budget.
The governor and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, had been suspended from office during the emergency, with Tinubu appointing retired Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as sole administrator.
The crisis that led to the emergency stemmed from Fubara’s rift with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now FCT minister, over Rivers’ political structure.
Their fallout divided lawmakers and triggered violent clashes until Tinubu called for reconciliation in June.
